Body, sexuality and nudity: discover the amazing photographs of Santy Mito
Santy Mito is a Mexican photographer who works with body, sexuality and nudity. During this month of patriotic celebrations in Mexico, he is out to represent his country but also question it. A shock and awe tactic that forces us to pay attention to the issues that have been hidden for so long. His work notably put the spotlight on mariachi representation and bisexuality.
His latest series connects the bodies to the earth and to each other, embracing the traditions of a country that would not allow them to embrace each other, in an act of rebellion.
His experiences as a bisexual man in Mexico City and Oaxaca tint his outlook and inform the art he produces. For him, homoeroticism could be a bet on a political positioning against a system that denies men the right to express affection for one another, regardless of their orientation.
The real transgression and rebellion is to think about the possibility of two or more men showing affection to one another. And if that moment is captured on camera, that is even better. Browse the gallery down below to discover more of his work!
